Top Ten Things You’ll Likely Find – Only in Nevada
Since Cam and Ben are Nevadans, and I am too, I thought your readers might get a kick out of this. It would be easy enough for Cam and Ben to have seen all of these – I have.
10) Slot machines in service stations.
9) Wild horses in your driveway.
8) The printing press where Mark Twain’s work was first published.
7) The oldest known tree in the world – a bristlecone pine in Great Basin National Park.
6) Gold, Gifts, and Guns – an all purpose shopping experience.
5) Giant ichthyosaur fossils on top of a desert mountain – yes, they were like fish.
4) The bottle house in Rhyolite – a house built completely out of beer bottles and mud.
3) The pyramid in Pyramid Lake on the reservation of the Pyramid Lake Band of Northern Paiutes.
2) the Wildest Richest Rodeo in the West – Reno Rodeo in the Biggest Little City in the World.
1) Area 51 – a top secret military test site next to the ET Highway (NV State 6) known for multiple sightings of UFOs.
bonus) The blue nun’s ghost at St. Mary’s Art Center (a restored 1870s era hospital) in Virginia City – one of the most haunted places around.
I want to visit Nevada now, just to see all of these sights! Thanks for the awesome list, Suzanne!
All it takes is eight seconds....
Cam O'Mara, grandson and younger brother of bull- riding champions, is not interested in partaking in the family sport. Cam is a skateboarder, and perfecting his tricks — frontside flips, 360s — means everything until his older brother, Ben, comes home from Iraq, paralyzed from a brain injury.
What would make a skateboarder take a different kind of ride? And what would get him on a monstrosity of a bull named Ugly? If Cam can stay on for the requisite eight seconds, will the $15,000 prize bring hope and a future for his big brother?
